Reserves fly the bombers flag
COBDEN’s reserve footballers continue to fly the Bombers flag in the Hampden League finals series.

COBDEN’s reserve footballers continue to fly the Bombers flag in the Hampden League finals series.
The team put in a solid four quarter effort last Sunday to defeat Port Fairy in the elimination final by 21 points.
The Bombers got off to a flying start, kicking five goals and two behinds in the first quarter while keeping their opponents to 2.1.13.
They added another three majors in the second term to go into the half-time break with a handy 21-point lead.
This lead went out to 41-points by the three-quarter break and while they only managed to add one major in the final term, the work was done.
Final scores were Cobden 12.6.78 to Port Fairy 8.9. 57.
This win earns the Bombers a spot in this Sunday’s semi-final round where they will take on Koroit at the Cobden Recreation Reserve.
Among the best players for the Bombers last weekend were Gryff Dwyer, Jia Anderson, Bradley Gillingham, Luke Pekin, Lois Robertson and Mitch Reed.
Goal scorers were Michael Koroneos (5), Steven Fisher (2), Sam Darcy, Gryff Dwyer, Nick Kemp, Jack McGlade and Louis Robertson.
Flying high off Sunday’s win, the Bombers will be keen to dig deeper into the finals series and will be looking for another big performance in this Sunday’s ‘must win’ semi-final against Koroit.
With two losses to the Saints in the home and away season they will be well aware of the task ahead – and keen to turn the tables.
When the two sides met in round five the Saints took the win by six points and in round 14 enjoyed a more comfortable 39-point victory.
