TIMBOON Demons’ senior footballers got within 17 points of victory last weekend.
Playing in front of a home crowd, the Demons put on a great display of team footy and made good use of the ball, staying within a goal going into the second quarter before Rovers put the foot down in the second and went into the half-time break with a handy 20-point lead.
The third term was a relatively even one, with the Demons adding 2.2 to the board while Rovers kicked 3.3, before the final term saw the Demons add 3.5 and contain the visitors to 2.1.
Final scores were Timboon Demons 9.14.68 to South Rovers 13.7.85.
Best for the Demons were Lachlan Rosolin, Oliver Stansfield, Eddie Gaut, Kyle Delaney, Sam Negrello and Lyndon Alsop.
Goals went to Negrello (2), Rosolin (2), Charlie Trotter (2) and singles to Eddie Gaut, Ben Harding and Mitchell Wallace.
Ladder leaders South Rovers proved too strong for the Demons’ reserves last weekend, keeping the home side scoreless for the day while kicking 19.10.124.
Christopher Moutray, Steven Crees, Jack Gaut, Adrian Jilich, Dillon Stokie and Sullivan Wallace were named among the best for the Demons.
With one round of the home and away season remaining, Timboon’s A grade and A reserve netball sides are looking to play finals.
A grade – Timboon defeated South Rovers 67-53 and now sits fifth on the league ladder, a game and a half clear of the sixth-placed Dennington.
A reserve – now sit fourth, equal on points but percentage above Allansford and half a game clear of Old Collegians in sixth, following last weekend’s win over South Rovers, 35-33.
B grade – South Rovers defeated Timboon 28-24.
17 and under – South Rovers defeated Timboon 24-19.
15 and under – South Rovers defeated Timboon 26-15.
13 and under – Timboon defeated South Rovers 18-6.
The Demons will travel to Panmure this Saturday to take on the third-placed Bulldogs for the last round of the home and away season.
