VINTAGE machinery roared back to life at the 47th annual Cobden Vintage Rally over the weekend, with the historic displays drawing larger-than-expected crowds through the gates.

South Western District Restoration Group secretary John Brown said attendees from far and wide had flocked to the Racecourse Park Rally Ground to enjoy the historic displays.

“It was really good,” he said.

“It was probably our best event so far. We haven’t tallied the final figures yet.”

Mr Brown said feedback from attendees had been positive.

“Personally I had more feedback from people this year,” he said.

“Lots of people commented how good it was.

“People thought the attractions and the facility was really good.”

Mr Brown said the auction was particularly successful this year.

“The auction was probably the best we’ve had,” he said.

“People also commented on the model boats display. The number and variety of boats was better.”

Mr Brown thanked all involved for helping to make the day a successful one.

“Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters of the event,” he said.
