Reward for effort

MAKING the top five and playing finals is “reward for effort” according to Kolora Noorat senior coach Nick Bourke.
The Power finished the home and away season on a high last weekend, defeating Old Collegians by 94 points and cementing third spot on the ladder.
The privilege of playing finals and representing their club and local community is not lost on Bourke and his playing group, who say they’re ready to fight hard for a flag.
“I could not be prouder of our playing group and our club,” Bourke said.
“It really has been a bit of a strange year when you look back on it; a lot of teams have been affected by COVID, injuries and player unavailability."
“But to our boys’ credit, they’ve turned up week after week to train hard and have looked after their bodies. Finishing third is reward for effort.”
With the home and away season now behind them, Bourke said their real journey had only just begun.
“We’ve been playing good footy all year and we’re feeling ready for the next chapter,” Bourke said.
“We’re only just getting started. Our first challenge will be Panmure in this Saturday’s qualifying final.”
Bourke said he was confident his side could get over the line this weekend, having played Panmure twice this season.
“Panmure has been playing some really good footy and are one of the benchmarks this year but we’ve beaten them once already and I’m hoping we can do it again.”
The game will be held at Mortlake’s DC Farran Oval.
