CAMPERDOWN College student Stella Horspole has been named captain of the Victorian State School Show Horse team.

CAMPERDOWN College student Stella Horspole has been named captain of the Victorian State School Show Horse team.
She is the youngest person to be chosen, with the role open to students in years 10, 11 and 12.
As captain, Horspole will be running various activities, team meetings and team building days, and putting together a team chant.
She will be welcomed into her role and introduced to her team at a training weekend in August, where team bonding and horse lessons will prepare the team for competition.
Prior to selection, Horspole underwent a lengthy application process which included submitting a written application to Equestrian Victoria and being interviewed by three board members.
She said she was excited to be named as captain.
“I’m up for the challenge, and I can’t wait,” Horspole said.
“I’ve been around horses all my life, and I do show horse riding a lot. I really love it.”
Assistant principal Vicki Angus said the college was “very, very proud” of Horspole’s achievement.
“She’s a very worthy recipient and has had lots of leadership opportunities over her school journey so far,” she said.
“I was not surprised when she was selected for this position; it’s a real credit to Stella.”
Horspole and her team will compete at the nationals in October.
