Riordan holds listening posts
MEMBER for Polwarth Richard Riordan spent time in the south of the Corangamite Shire last week talking with residents.
He held listening posts last Wednesday in Cobden, Simpson, Timboon and Port Campbell.
Mr Riordan said the sessions went well.
“I got my fair share of visitors,” he said.
Mr Riordan said the three biggest concerns for residents were tree plantations, roads and the short stay tax.
“There’s different issues across the shire,” he said.
“Everyone is worried with the drop away in tourism.
“We had some good discussions about the impact of trees and wanting to make sure that the government understands the need of dairy farmers not to be priced out.”
Mr Riordan encouraged residents to reach out to his office with issues.
“The community feels that they are being listened to at a local level,” he said.
“People just want to know they are being listened to.”
