Road concerns raised
COMMUNITY concerns about a stretch of road on the outskirts of Simpson have been raised.

COMMUNITY concerns about a stretch of road on the outskirts of Simpson have been raised.
The section – colloquially known as Murray Goulburn Corner – has seen a rise in accidents in recent months prompting a permanent speed reduction.
Department of Transport and Planning acting regional director (Barwon South West) Debbie Seymour said based on regular inspections “crews have discovered issues with a section of Lavers Hill-Cobden Road”.
“Our immediate response has focused on delivering short-term repairs to ensure the road remains open and we are now planning for longer-term repairs,” she said.
“In order to deliver those repairs, we need to wait for warmer, drier conditions – carrying out these sorts of works when its wet and cold reduces the chances of these repairs lasting.”
A reduced speed limit on this section of road has been implemented to ensure safety of motorists.
Contractors will continue to rectify identified hazards in the short-term while repairs can be completed.
