REPAIRS have gotten under way on a section of Port Campbell-Cobden Road which was damaged recently.

Department of Transport regional director Barwon South West Michael Tudball said repair works had begun.

“We’re fixing flood-related damage to the kerb and channel, before finishing off work associated with sheet piles that were installed,” he said.

“We’ll then move onto final drainage works before sealing the shoulder and running lanes in front of the sheet pile wall.”

This site, near Cobden along Cobden-Port Campbell Rd, was hammered with more than 50mm of rain within a 24 hour period, causing damage on both sides of the kerb.

Unseasonal heavy rain has fallen across the region, causing major damage to the roads including damaging areas which were repaired earlier this year.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, in 2022 Cobden experienced its highest rainfall for the month of October with 204.8mm.
