Roaders win challenge
THE Lismore Roaders have taken out this year’s Corporate Challenge at the Camperdown Giants Bowling Club.

THE Lismore Roaders have taken out this year’s Corporate Challenge at the Camperdown Giants Bowling Club.
The Roaders showed their skills on the Thornton Street greens throughout the four-week challenge to finish top of the ladder – just one point ahead of runners-up Stonyford Wreckers and just three points ahead of third-placed Theos Gardening.
Following a two-year hiatus, the challenge returned to Camperdown this year and according to organisers it was “one of the biggest yet.”
“It was great to have the Corporate Challenge back in 2023 and from all feedback received so far, players really had a good time with plenty of laughs and friendships made,” Ron Simcox said.
“The challenge ran each Monday night for four weeks and we had 28 teams entered, with all 14 rinks full every week.”
According to Simcox, 112 players of all abilities took part.
The Camperdown Giants is hoping the challenge may encourage participants to take up the sport of bowls.
The club caters for players, male and female, of all ages and abilities who are keen to play pennant.
The season runs from October through to March, however, the greens are open year-round.
Anyone wanting more information can contact club president Matthew Brewer on 0417 577 313.
Social bowls will start on Sunday March 5 at 12.30pm – for jut $5 participants can enjoy two games of bowls and a sausage in bread.
The sheets will be on the board in the clubrooms, with names due in by 12 noon.
