Warrnambool Roller Derby Club, in partnership with Corangamite Shire Council, organised the family-friendly night which will kick off from 6pm Friday, September 20 (tonight).

Warrnambool Roller Derby Club president Amie Hargreaves said the roller discos began through the formation of the club.

“During the pandemic, there was a few of us came together and a venue became available at the Warrnambool Showgrounds,” she said.

“We tidied that up and started a skate club.

“Just recently, we started branching out to do discos in other towns to inspire some other people to do the same thing.”

The disco will be held at the Camperdown Community Stadium on Fuller Street.

Ms Hargreaves said the roller disco was a family fun night for ages five and up.

“There will be games, and we will have our own skates so people who don’t have skates will be able to loan some of ours,” she said.

“We have skates that will fit everyone from a five-year-old to a very large men’s 13.

“There will be plenty of volunteers and coaches on hand to give tips on skating.

“I recommend families come along.”

Tickets are available at the venue for $10, with EFTPOS available onsite.

Safety gear will also be provided at the venue.
