The Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) program was held at Kangaroobie recently.

Cobden Rotary Club member Gary Kimber said the program was open to 18 to 25 year-olds across the rotary district.

He said it was a six day live-in program which saw participants focus on a number of areas including:

 Public speaking;

 Self esteem;

 Conflict resolution; and

 What to do in the workplace.

Mr Kimber said there was about 40 participants involved, including Cobden’s Willoughby Perriss.

“Cobden Rotary provided the ‘mum and dad’ this year to be there to support the participants,” he said.

“RYLA is one of the most successful rotary programs in my opinion.

“It’s wonderful to the participants to come back so enriched.”

Mr Kimber said the leaders had significant training.

“It’s an excellent program,” he said.
