Round one win for Dragons
BOORCAN cricketers have opened up their 2024/25 season account with a strong round one win over Ecklin.
New players to the club, Max Moor and Kaif Iqbal, made an impression with bat and ball during their first match, with Moor opening alongside vice-captain Henry Moyle and notching up a creditable 50 runs before out lbw.
Iqbal contributed six runs to Boorcan’s total of 7/196 before impressing at the crease, finishing the day with figures of 3/31 off his 10 overs.
Last Saturday’s match at the Noorat Recreation Reserve saw Ecklin win the toss and elect to bowl.
Strongest with the bat for Boorcan were Moor (50), William Owen (42 not out) and Joseph Heffernan (unbeaten on 33).
In reply, Ecklin reached 10/185 in the 48th over.
Best bowling figures for Boorcan came from Daniel Boyle 4/38 off 10 overs, Iqbal 3/31 and William Owen 2/15 off two.
Round two this Saturday will see Boorcan at home against the Camperdown Lakers.
