Roving rocks make appearance

EAGLE eyed locals may have spotted a colourful treasure in the avenue over the long weekend.
Local resident Patrick Hallenan said one of the beautiful wonders sometimes are those left by other people for you to find.
“On the Queen’s birthday weekend little art treasures were left beneath the trees and upon the picnic seats and chairs along manifold avenue for anyone with a keen eye to spot and enjoy,” he said.
Mr Hallenan said he and his dog, Grace, come across a range of painted rocks in the avenue.
“What started as a daily routine quickly became a treasure hunt, taking pictures of the art and leaving them for others to find and enjoy,” he said.
“Although I will confess I did take one for a keepsake, which I am sure the artist had intended."
“The back of the stones were simply marked Vic Rocks, the area code 3280 and a Facebook symbol."
“Thank you Vic Rocks for an interesting morning, so keep an eye or two open everyone cause there’s probably more hidden about town, but hidden inplain sight.”
The painted rocks are part of a Facebook group which can be found by searching for VIC Rocks on Facebook.
The idea is to come across a painted rock, take a photo and post it in the Facebook group and re-hide it on your journey – whether it’s close by or in a different town and see how far the rocks travel.
