Sailors head to Adelaide

FIVE western district female sailors will be head to Adelaide in October to compete in the South Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta.

The group will not only represent the Derrinallum Yacht Club, but also their state.

The team was bought together by Lou Hollis from Koroit,who will be joined by skipper Susannah Gillam (Geelong), Lismore’s Aurelie Chabrol and Colac’s Tapanga Barnhart-Rankin and Megan Leersen.

While Susannah is an ‘honorary member’, the rem-aining four all sail out of Derrinallum.

Last year’s line honours in the Elliot division went to a team including Sussanah, Megan and Lou – who will this year be hoping to repeat their performance with the addition of Aurelie and Tapanga.

The girls have been training out of Royal Geelong Yacht Club in preparation for the event, which will run over three days.
