Saturday season commences
THE Saturday competition season has begun for the Camperdown Golf Magpies Bowling Club.
The club’s three Saturday teams started their season last Saturday, with division one travelling to Apollo Bay, division two at Birregurra and division three was home to Colac.
Division one found the going tough at the Bay, going down by 26 shots, 86-110.
With three new division one bowlers and four of last year’s regular division one bowlers missing, it was a good performance against a side that is expected to be right up there at the end of the season.
Craig Skene’s rink of Peter Reilly, Andrew Anderson and Taj Merrett had a good win over Michael Harrison’s rink, 28-20.
Glenn Winsall’s rink of Billy Conheady, Leanne Fitzgerald and Greg Teal went down to Jason Bertrand’s rink, 17-23.

A slow start didn’t help Golf and by afternoon tea they trailed by 20-odd shots.
A good start is essential tomorrow as they take on a very strong Cobden team at home.
John Molan’s team of Mark Winsall, Ro Dunstan and Ray Bateman had a good win over Graham Brien’s rink, 27-12.
Chris McLeod’s rink of Terry Place, Janet Molan and Greg Edwards tied with Brian Neale’s rink 20 shots each.
Wayne Henry’s rink of Pam Place, Daryl O’Donohue and Trey Darcy went down to Brian Walker’s rink, 12-21.

Division three fought hard all day and despite sharing the rinks two-all, went down to Colac 3 by two shots, 79-81.
