Scammers target area

POLICE have urged caution after a number of locals fell victim to scams recently.

Camperdown police senior constable Steve Kay issued a plea for vigilance after reports of residents being scammed out of substantial amounts of money in recent weeks.

“We’re finding that people are using the internet and are falling for pretty old-fashioned scams,” he said.

“We’re wanting people to be very cautious when buying or trading online.

“Basically if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.”

Residents were asked to always go directly to trusted sources, check official sources for what they might request from you, and not to click or open links or attachments or reply to suspicious messages.
