Service honoured

LONG-SERVING Simpson Country Fire Authority (CFA) members had their commitment recognised recently.

Service appreciated: Members of the Simpson CFA received recognition for the years of service at an awards presentation recently.

An awards presentation was held which saw a number of brigade members receive medals and awards.

Awards presented on the night were:

  • Alf Frith – 40 years;

  • Shane Banks (not present) – 40 years;

  • Denise Frith – 35 years;

  • Leo Van den Broek – 20 years;

  • Ken Smith – 20 years.

A number of other members received awards for 15, 10 and five years of service on the night.

In a special presentation, Jono Hutton was presented with a National Emergency Medal for his service during the bushfires in 2019/2020.

The National Emergency Medal is an operational service medal which recognises significant or sustained service to others in response to nationally-significant emergencies within Australia.
