Serving the community
CAMPERDOWN Lions Club members have been actively working in the local community in recent times.

CAMPERDOWN Lions Club members have been actively working in the local community in recent times.
Around 80 elderly people in the town can now feel safer in their own homes with their smoke detector batteries being changed or checked at the end of daylight saving.
This has been a free and annual community service for around 30 years.
Members held a Driver Reviver coffee break on the Friday of the Labour Day weekend to encourage drivers to take a break on their long journeys.
The majority of those served were travelling from Melbourne to Warrnambool or Port Fairy and spent some time chatting while having their complimentary drink and biscuits.
Lions publicity officer Maree Belyea said the community meal continues to be supplied once each school term by the club, with all present treated to a home-cooked two course meal served in a convivial atmosphere at the Uniting Church hall.
“Assistance was again provided with the local Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal on Good Friday spending the day counting the record amount of donations received,” she said.
“Well done to all concerned and the generous donors.”
Members are currently assisting the RSL Sub Branch with the ANZAC badge selling and will be catering for the ANZAC Day breakfast and morning tea.
“The very popular Lions heritage signs around Camper-down continue to be kept in good condition due to a monthly roster of members to keep them clean,” Ms Belyea said.
“Fundraising is always necessary, and the club has been fortunate to be contracted recently by Corangamite Shire to distribute nearly 1,000 FOGA bags to households in the town.
“Other fundraising activities include catering, including for funerals, and a hot food stall at the April Sunday market that is intended to be a regular activity.”
