SATURDAY, October 8 will prove to be a special day on the calendar for locals which has been 150 years in the making.

The South West Conveyancing Camperdown Show will be held for the 150th time – a celebration which has been held off for the last two years due to COVID.

The Camperdown Show Committee are looking forward to the event, with show president Ashlea Church saying plans for the event were all coming together with a wide range of things to do and see at thisyear’s show.

“Everything is looking great,” she said.

“We have a lot of trade sites – more than 70 so far.

“We would like to encourage entries to start coming in. There’s lots of interest whichis good.”

The show is playing host to the Jersey State Show which will see an influx of people from across the state.

Plenty of the old show favourites will ake a return including the Show Personality competition, dog jumps, SES car demonstrations as well as live music from Devil Women from Mars, Lakes and Craters Band and Ian ‘Bidge’ Boyd.

Youngsters will be well catered for with the kids treasure hunt showbag, pet parade and sideshow alley.

Mrs Church said the dachshound dash and dog jump had been popular via social media.

“We have the Beaut’ Ute competition which has a fair amount of cash and prizes on offer,” she said.

“We’re bringing back a few old competitions like a fleece judging competition, whichis exciting.

“The homecraft pavilion has been revamped where there’s less competitions and more exhibits.

“There will be demonstrations throughout the day.

“There’s everything you can think of on offer.”

Mrs Church said the committee is looking forward to marking the 150th running ofthe show.

“We hope that people can come along and help celebrate,” she said.

“We’re looking forward to it – we’re excited.

“We’re having an opening of the show to celebrate 150 years. We’re going to celebrate with a life member, current member and next generation representative.”

This year will see a chance to the horse show schedule, with all show horse events held on the Sunday.

“Saturday will be the Stockmens Challenge and show jumping,” Mrs Church said.

Entry on the day is $30 for a family ticket, $15 per adult, pensioners and students (aged five to 17) $5 each and children four and under are free.
