LAST week saw the end of John Morris's 12 month leadership role within the Simpson and District Lions Club.
New president for the 2023/24 year will see Russ Davis take on the role for the first time.
While past president John focussed his year on reviewing club activities and buildingon the social aspect of the club as it came out of the pandemic, president Russ will focus his year on rebuilding the activity balance of our club going into the new year.
A lovely dinner was held on Thursday night at the Ball and Chain Hotel to celebrate the changeover.
After the meal, Camperdown lion Maree Belyae inducted Simpson members into their new roles.
Our new president Russ has a wide range of talents and interests.
He has a keen sense of being part of a community, has been involved in the music industry, is quite a hand at writing poetry and on the odd occasion, can recite a whole narrative of his favourite comedians.
On this particular night he showcased his recollection of a complete Benny Hill story. It was hilarious; Russ should have been on the stage.
We look forward to the year ahead and give Russ our complete support as we go into 2024.
