Simpson set to turn green
THE Heytesbury Stockfeeds Simpson Speedway is set to turn green at its January 3 race meet.

Racegoers of all ages are encouraged to wear green on race night in support of the Gillin Boys Foundation.
Amid the night’s exciting race program, the foundation will also kick off the first of its two-seater Sprintcar rides which will see one lucky motoring enthusiast enjoy some quick laps around the track, including during the playing of the national anthem.
“This exciting opportunity will be auctioned off on the foundation’s social pages prior to the night and we’re hoping race enthusiasts will get behind this terrific fundraiser,” Gillin Boys Foundation spokesperson Jessica Nolte said.
“We will also have a great raffle on the night, worth $1000, which includes two rides in the two-seater Sprintcar and a range of goods donated by Pontings Warrnambool.”
Thanks to DirtX Industries Motorsport, every child that enters the Simpson venue on January 3 will receive a ‘goodie bag.’
The bags will contain green glow sticks, a pen and more.
Plus children will also have the chance to colour-in and enter a competition for the chance to win free tickets to the January 18 race meeting.
Entries for the colour-in competition can also be completed prior to the January 3 race night via the Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Facebook page and on the Simpson Speedway website.
Other two-seater ride days are planned for Saturday, January 11 and Sunday, January 19 (both at Simpson).
Rides are still available for purchase on these dates and can be booked on the foundation website.
The last official ‘ride night’ will take place at Premier Speedway Warrnambool on Sunday, February 9 (which is already booked out).
“These ride nights have become extremely popular and we’re very thankful to all those who support this,” Ms Nolte said.
“And to car owner Wayne Billings and his crew we also extend our appreciation because of these days raises around $6000.”
