Slimed for a good cause
THERE were smiles all round at Simpson Primary School on Monday for Foodbank Food Fight.
School principal Melissa Berry said the day was an initiative of the school’s student leaders working with the school parent’s club to promote health and wellbeing.
“The parents club organised the food fight in support of Foodbank,” she said.
“We do Breakfast Club and we have a shop for the parents who can get grocery items they want which is through Foodbank.”
As part of the initiative students helped raise more than $4600 and celebrated with an obstacle course on Monday.
Mrs Berry said the student leaders encouraged all students to write positive affirmations on their classmates shirts.
“They have loved it,” she said.
“The smiles on their faces say it all.”
As part of the day, the school’s top fundraiser – Harry Armistead Riemer – was tasked with dumping a bucket of slime on Mrs Berry’s head to the delight of his fellow students.
Top classroom fundraisers Fletcher Kelley, Evie Thomas and Cooper Beecher were also given a bucket of slime to dump over their teacher’s heads.
Mrs Berry thanked the school community for its support of the initiative.
She said the student leaders would present a powerpoint presentation to the Student Leader Congress in July.
