THE Camperdown Giants’ clubrooms was full of chatter and laughter last Saturday as the club welcomed Central, Simpson, and Camperdown Golf.

With all teams playing at home, the club also enjoyed a pizza night.

Division three played Simpson 2 and had a 27-shot win, with three out of the four rinks victorious.

Tom, David, Jim and Gordon battled hard all day and came home strong in the last five ends, winning 19-17.

Ron, Stan, Bert and Paul led all day before the break, but Simpson scored on eight of the last nine ends and won 20-22.

Ron Absalom, Les, Max and Gerard started off like a bullet out of a gun and just kept firing; 32-14 was their winning score.

Les Pearson, Lenny, Filumena and Ray also started well, leading 20-6 before the break but could only manage eight more shots to hang on and win 28-17.

Next week they head south to Cobden 2 who are on the top of ladder and haven’t lost a game yet.

Dig deep and remember to win those last five ends.

Teams are: R. Simcox (s), L. Pearson, B. Sloetjes and G. Taylor; T. Hose (s), Dav. Coverdale, P. Brebner, and G. Weller; L. Searle (s), S. Adeney, F. Cameron, and R. Bourke; R. Absalom (s), L. Dorman M. Rippon and G. Broderick.

Manager is David Coverdale. Players will leave the club at 12 noon by cars.

Division one played Central and had very convincing win by 88shots and all four rinks.

Luke, Barry, Vicki and Jayden had the biggest win, with only letting their opponent score on seven ends; 42-11 was the final score.

Matthew, Peter, Maria and Lud also held on to win 31-15.

Ron, Fred, Harry and Kelvin had a closer battle; they were 10-all on the ninth end and 17-11 going in for the break.

They then came out and won 36-14.

Mark, Darren, Geoff and David had a closer game in the first half and were only four shots ahead on the 13th end.

They came out and won 10 of the last 15 ends to win 32-14.

A great win but the next game will be a real test as they play the ladder leaders and favourites for the flag Winchelsea down there.

Division four played Camperdown Golf 4, who could only field two rinks instead of three but Golf 4 were still too strong and Lismore/Camperdown lost by 17 shots.

Ted, Paul, John and Donna tried hard all day but down 11-30 Lyn, Phillip, Jim and Noel at the break were only four shots down but just couldn’t peg it back and went down 15-21.

Next week they also travel to Winchelsea by cars at 11am.

The south west 60 and over social pennant was played on Monday because of the Melbourne Cup.

Cobden Red 51 defeated Terang 28, Timboon 30 lost to Camperdown Black and Camperdown White 25 lost to Mortlake 42.

Cobden Black had the bye.

The ladder is Cobden Black 34, Camperdown White 28, Cobden Red 26, Camperdown Black 26, Mortlake 24, Timboon 22 and Terang.

Camperdown Black plays Cobden Black at home on Tuesday and the teams are:

S. Adeney (s), G. Noonan and R. Bourke.

R. Cameron (s), L. Dorman and G. Broderick.

Manager and umpire is S. Adeney. Camperdown White plays Cobden Red at Cobden.

L. Pearson (s), M. Rippon and N. Pemberton.

D. Coverdale (s), T. Hose and P. Robertson.

The manager is T. Hose and skippers to arrange cars.

Emergencies are D. Noonan, F. Salmon and B. Wilson

Two lambs on the spit have been donated and the big raffle will be held again, so any donations will be appreciated.
