Social support groups unite for high tea

TERANG and Cobden community members were united to enjoy a mouth-watering high tea and a toe-tapping concert.
Terang and Mortlake Health Service and Timboon and District Healthcare Service social support clients united in Terang recently to enjoy a special day of music and togetherness over high tea.
Terang and Mortlake Health Service social support co-ordinator Wendy Errey said the concept to enjoy high tea had originated after asking members of the Cobden group to travel to Terang so the groups could enjoy each other’s company.
“We wanted to re-link with other nearby social support groups post COVID-19 lockdowns,” she said.
“We were very fortunate to be joined by talented musicians Trevor Keilor and Judy Sharrock, who played all the hits for members to sing and dance along to.
“Music had been nominated by clients as an important activity to reminisce and participate together in a social setting.”
Around 40 clients were in attendance, with some arriving early to set up and others loaning their fine china to ensure a wonderful day was had by all.
“Our scrumptious high tea included gourmet sandwiches, sausage rolls and party pies, quiche, shortbreads, scones with jam and cream and fresh fruit,” Ms Errey said.
“The food for our members was provided by the Terang Hospital kitchen and the Terang Op Shop loaned high tea crockery.
“We offer our gratitude to them for helping to create a wonderful day for our clients.”
