SUNNYSIDE House residents will benefit from a special donation made by Camperdown’s Pastoral and Agriculture Society recently.

In 2022, the society celebrated its 150th Agricultural show and in recognition of this achievement donated $1000 to Sunnyside.

The donation went towards the purchase of a new smart television for the residents, which was purchased locally.

Camperdown Pastoral and Agricultural society president Cheryl McMahon said the area was a strong wool growing area, and many local families donated fleeces in the wool section which were sold, and the proceeds then donated to the Camperdown Hospital and Sunnyside House.

“This occurred in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, and a great deal of money was put back into these local services,” she said.

“This donation is a way that the P and A Society can continue to put back into its community which has supported the show for many years.”

In 2023 the P and A society has some new faces on the committee and have started to plan events for the coming year.

This includes a dressage competition, planned for May 27 and 28.

A new all-abilities toilet facility is also under construction, which Ms McMahon said will be a great asset to the facility.

“The 151st Agricultural Show is planned for October 14, and the committee is looking to make this a great event for the community,” she said.

“The format of the show will be discussed at our next committee meeting on the 3rd of May.

“Many volunteer hours and skills are needed to put on the show each year.

“The society are looking for volunteers to assist with grant writing, event sponsorship and trade site management, as well as assistance with show sections.”
