WORKS at the Bostocks Creek solar farm have started to progress.

Bison Energy head of projects Trans Tasman/ Pacific region Mark Daly said while the project was still in the early days, it was anticipated solar panels would begin to be installed at the end of December and early January.

He said the works were currently in the mechanical installation stage.

The Bostocks Creek Solar Farm, which has frontage on the Camperdown-Cobden Road, is the first for the company in the local region.

The site sits on about 17 hectares which were expected to have 9300 solar panels at the completion of the project.

The solar farm was expected to produce about 11,570 mwh per year which was equivalent to 1500 homes being powered each year.

The solar farm has a lifespan of about 30 years.

Mr Daly said local contractors had been engaged to complete the works as much as possible.

“We’re pleased with the progress so far,” he said.

“It’s expected to be operational in March, but it all depends on Powercor.

“We’ve had really good support from the community.”

Bison Energy Australia head of business development for Trans Tasman/Pacific Region Brendan Murphy also thanked the community for its support.

“Thank you for the support of the local community including the Cobden Business Network – they have been fantastic assisting us along the way – and the Corangamite Shire,” he said.

“Reach out to us if you’re after sponsorship and support for your club or event.”

Mr Murphy said one of the benefits of a smaller project site like Bostocks Creek was the support stays local.
