ONCE again Cobden Bombers’ open side were rewarded with a solid four quarters and a 29-goal win over Terang Mortlake for the last game of the home and away season.

Senior coach Sophie Hinkley said “it was a great win to finish off the home and away season”.

“We were looking at that game as one to polish off all the work we have done,” she said.

“The win was a great celebration and reward for us going into finals.

“We had a solid effort across the team and a chance to play the entire squad which was great and important to us leading into this week.

“We have had great form for the last couple of weeks of the home and away season, we had ready good wins against Hamilton and North Warrnambool.

“With Terang Mortlake game we were able to work more on different combinations and structures we play on the court.”

The Bombers’ will play Koroit this week in the qualifying final on Saturday.

With both teams winning a home and away game, Hinkley was confident coming into the weekend.

The first time they meet in round five the Bombers’ had a depleted squad, only losing by three goals, and in round 14 the Bombers’ won by two in similar conditions to those expected this weekend.

“It is always difficult with Koroit’s squad who will be playing due to Mermaid commitments,” Hinkley said.

“We will be just focusing on doing the things we do best, recognising how they play and how to counteract that.”
