The Bloods travelled to Friendlies Society Park on Saturday hoping to make it three in a row but that wasn’t to be as the Roosters got off to a flying start in the opening quarter, kicking 6.3 to the Bloods’ two behinds.

The Roosters continued to add to the board in the second term while restricting the Bloods to three majors, extending their lead to 44 points by the main break.

The Bloods regrouped and had a strong third quarter.

They kicked 3.4 while restricting South’s scoring opportunities to just five behinds to get within five goals at three-quarter time.

A low scoring final term saw both sides struggle to make an impression on the scoreboard, with no majors added.

Final scores were South Warrnambool 11.14.80 to Terang Mortlake 6.5.41.

Best for the Bloods were Xavier Vickers, Isaac Kenna, Jordan Harris, Ned Roberts, Joe Arundell and Ryan O’Connor.

Ned Roberts kicked three goals while Gus Bourke added two and Matty Arundell one.

The Bloods’ reserves also struggled against the top-of-the-table Roosters, going down by 47 points, 9.13.67 to 3.2.20.

The Bloods were held scoreless until the third quarter when they managed three majors – and could only add two behinds to the tally in the final term.

Among the best for the Bloods were Matthew Baxter, Tom Arundell, Tyler Vickers, Tim Ackerley and Toby Harris.

Jake Lee, Declan O’Connor and Todd Robertson each contributed a goal.

Earlier in the day, the Bloods’ under 18s, currently sitting in 8th, went down by 50 points to the third-placed Roosters, 10.7.67 to 2.5.17.

Charlie Kenna, Tyler Vickers, Mark Lehmann, Cameron Goddard, Darcy Abbott and Henry Carroll were among the best for the side.

Terang Mortlake’s netballers also faced strong opposition for round 11 but worked hard across all divisions, coming home with a draw in both the division one and division three games.
