South West was defeated by the Mount Gambier Cricket Association in last weekend’s grand final match.

Played on the turf wicket at Hamilton College last Sunday, Mount Gambier won the toss and elected to bat.

They reached 10/131 in the 42nd over, with South West showing some great skill at the crease and in the outfield.

Best of the bowlers for South West were Louis Darcy with figures of 3/29 from 10 overs, Jackson Rock 3/31 from 10 and James O’Neil 2/28 off 10.

Matthew Bignell was also effective, taking 1/0 off just one ball.

In reply, South West fell short in its run chase, reaching 10/110 in the 26th over.

Lower order batsman Paul Vogels was the highest scorer, unbeaten on 24 runs, followed by Tim Fitzgerald with a quick 22 from 28 deliveries.

Opener Eddie Lucas also batted well, contributing 17 off 26 balls in a spell that included three boundaries.
