Special award for Ivy

IVY Wardlaw has been named the Jenny Mahncke Memorial Award recipient for 2022.

IVY Wardlaw has been named the Jenny Mahncke Memorial Award recipient for 2022.

The young Tiger cub received the award at Woorndoo Mortlake Football Netball Club’s annual presentation day last Sunday.

“I’m really happy to win this because it’s a special award and I was really surprised when they read my name out,” Ivy said.

“Jenny was a really nice lady who did a lot for our club.”

Tom Dale was presented with the Doug Burr Memorial Shield for Volunteer of the Year in recognition of his off-field efforts throughout the season.

“I’m honoured to receive this award in Burry’s memory; it’s a nice surprise,” Tom said.

A life membership was presented to club president Will Lynch in recognition of his many years voluntary service to the club.

Special presentations were also made throughout the day to the 13 and under junior netballers and under 12 footballers.

In the junior vote count, talented netballers Mia Richie and Elise Killen backed up their league awards taking out the 17 and under best and fairest and runner-up vote count.

Team coach Sarah Cameron presented her coach’s award to defender Lucy Barry.

In the 15 and under vote count, Ava Wardlaw topped the poll, followed by runner-up Oliva Schuuring.

Annabella Pickford received the coach’s award.

In the senior vote count, Mia Richie also took out the A grade best and fairest count, followed by runner-up Sarah Cameron.

Coach’s awards went to Elise Killen and Brooke Eldridge.

In B grade, Jaime Killen was named best and fairest, with Melanie Dyson runner-up and Abbey Burford coach’s award.

C grade was won by Oliva Loader with Bianca Maher runner-up and Taliah Kelly coach’s award.

The senior football best and fairest award was won by Will Paulin, with Matt Pemberton finishing runner-up.

The coach’s award went to Liam Meekes while Jordan Buckley was leading goal kicker with 57 goals.

In the reserves count, Jack Osborne finished top of the poll, followed by runner-up Mitch Walsh.

The coach’s award went to Luke Eldridge.
