Could it be your lucky day?: St Patrick’s Primary School students Eliza Kerr and William Sinnott are encouraging res-idents to buy raffle tickets to support the construction of their new learning area.

Assistant principal Tarryn Delaney said the raffle was organised by the school’s Parents and Friends Association to raise funds for as special project.

“We’ve been building a new area for six new classrooms – so four classrooms for teaching, then an art room and a STEM room, as well some intervention rooms and offices in there as well,” she said.

“All money that the winners get will be spent at local Camperdown businesses, so we’re supporting the local community as well.

“We used to run a fete, but now they’re doing this. Just at their meetings, they decided that that was a good way to do it, and also it was a good way to give back to the community whilst we’re doing that.”

The Camperdown Cash won from the raffle can be used at any Camperdown business.

Lucky winners who draw the first prize will receive $2000 in Camperdown Cash, with second and third prizes being $1000 and $500 respectively.

Ms Delaney said many businesses had flyers in their windows and are supportive of the raffle.

“We’d like to thank Camperdown Pre-Mix and RL Blake and Sons, who are our gold sponsors, as well as our silver sponsors,” she said.

“Local businesses have also sponsored the raffle before we started, which has been good to have that community involvement.

“We’re very grateful for the community support.

“We’re very grateful because it means our students will have some state-of-the-art facilities to have their education in.”

Works on the new building have been progressing since February, with the steel frame now built.

“The building itself is starting to take shape,” Ms Delaney said.

“Students are able to see where they will be.

“We should have a roof on it soon, which will make it seem like we’ve got something there.

“It’s taken a long time to get to this spot, but we’re hoping we should be in it by the end of the year.”

Raffle tickets are available through various businesses in Camperdown, online at www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1216749, or by scanning the QR code on the flyers at $20 per ticket.

The raffle will be drawn at St Pat’s Primary School on August 2 at 8.30pm.
