STUDENTS at Camperdown’s St Patrick’s Primary School have continued to shine in the sporting arena.

Earlier this week the school’s state-winning netball side was announced winner of the Corangamite Sportsman’s Club’s Junior Team of the Year award.

School PE teacher Matt Harkin said the group was thrilled to win the award, which he believed was due recognition for their achievements.

“The team worked really hard and put in a lot of effort to win the state championships last month and we’re very grateful to the Sportsman’s Club for this latest award,” Mr Harkin said.

St Patrick’s dedication to providing sporting opportunities for children of all ages was again evident earlier this week when it hosted the first of four junior cricket clinics for girls.

“We are proud to be hosting a series of four Cricket Blast sessions not just for young girls who attend our school, but for all girls in the community,” Mr Harkin said.

“Our first session last Monday saw 27 girls enjoy learning new cricket skills and they also played a few games; it was a lot of fun.”

The sessions (for girls from kinder age through to year six) are free of charge and will run for the next three weeks every Monday from 3.30pm-4.30pm at Mercy Regional College, Camperdown.
