THE Stallions showed brilliance to come from fourth spot on the winter ladder to win the Corangamite volleyball A grade premiership.

Remarkably, the Stallions came from a long way behind (two sets and well down in the third) to snatch the vital third set, sneaking the fourth and wiping the NOBTS off the court in a sudden-death fifth.

The result was an impressive 3-2 win in a great game of volleyball.

Spikers Bailey Clarke and Troy Logan overwhelmed their shorter opposition in the early stages but the steady Stallions regained their composure and pulled off an impressive win.

Joel Bilanes was awarded the MVP.

Both teams earned spots in the decider with good performances in the semi-finals.

NOBTS beat the highly-fancied Cooriemungle Bulls in a hard-fought 2-1 match, while Stallions accounted for top team Poachers who were weakened by the unavailability of two gun players.

B grade honours went to Ballbusters who had to negotiate a preliminary match against Rascals to take on Slugs in the final.

After successfully defeating Rascals, they kept up their momentum to beat Slugs 2-1 in another tight season finale.

Jarrod Rethus (Ballbusters) took out the match MVP.

A great winter season, both on and off the court, now leads the competition into a spring pennant.

The association would welcome another one or two teams or just individual players to fully utilise the Cobden recreation centre on the warmer Tuesday nights during spring.

Interested players of any age and gender, with or without experience, can ring 0429 921 876 or 0428 799 690 for more details.
