The Storm, in its first season as an amalgamated club, is now 2023/24 premiers and champions, capping off what was a stellar season for the team.

Finishing the home and away season on top of the league ladder, the Storm earned its place in the grand final showdown after defeating Cobden in an abandoned semi-final match the previous week (due to heat).

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Storm put on a big show with the bat, reaching 7/279 in its 40 overs.

Runs were shared between the batsmen, with openers Terry Webb (31) and Cody Noonan (34) getting the side off to a strong start.

They were well supported on the scoreboard by team-mates Jason Kordupel (30), Leigh Doak (40), Brad Armistead (28), Justin Hosking (26) and Ben Newey (3).

Player of the match Luke Smith gave Boorcan some trouble, reaching 51 not out from just 30 balls faced.

Smith’s innings included eight boundaries and a six.

In reply, Boorcan was contained to 10/198 in the 35th over, with Luke Heffernan run out on 66 and Tim Fleming run out on 44 the main contributors.

The Storm’s bowlers worked hard at the crease and shared the wickets, with Cody Noonan effective taking 2/26 from six overs.

Single wickets also went to Leigh Doak 1/31, Grant McKenzie 1/38, Luke Smith 1/23, Nathan Balcombe 1/25 and Danny Balcome 1/51.
