TERANG Mortlake’s senior footballers look set to play finals.

With two rounds of the Hampden League home and away season remaining, the Bloods currently sit fifth, two games clear of Camperdown.

Playing in front of a home crowd at Mortlake last weekend, a six goal third quarter gave the Bloods victory over the Warrnambool Blues.

The eighth-placed Blues finished the opening quarter a goal down but came back strong in the second, kicking five goals to the home sides’ one, to go into the main break with a handy 18-point lead.

The Bloods stepped up the pressure in the third term and made better use of the ball in their forward 50 to add six majors to the scoreboard and were able to restrict the visitors to just two points.

The third quarter proved the winning one for the Bloods, turning an 18-point deficit into a 19-point lead going into the final term.

The last quarter was a relatively even one, with both sides adding two majors.

Final scores Terang Mortlake 14.11.95 to Warrnambool 11.9.75.

Final scores were Terang Mortlake 8.3.51 to Warrnambool 7.6.48.

Jake Lee kicked four goals and Jack Lehmann two to be named in the best alongside Jordan Harris, Jake Tanner, Toby Harris and Zac Newson.

The second-placed Blues proved too strong for the Bloods’ under 18.5 side, 12.8.80 to 1.5.11.

Henry Carroll kicked the home side’s only goal for the day while Ned Roberts, Tyler Vickers, Kane Killen, Max Heffernan, Hamish Hobbs and Jack Richie were named in the best.
