RESULTS from national testing conducted earlier this year have been received throughout Victoria, with Camperdown College students achieving strong results within the top two bands at both the Junior and Senior Campuses.
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual assessment for all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9.
It tests the types of skills that are essential for every child to progress through schooland life.
The tests cover skills in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation, and numeracy.
Every student who completed the NAPLAN testing receives an Individual Student Report which provides information about what students know and have achieved in the tests.
The reports also provide information on how students have performed against the national average and the national minimum standards.
Proud to report the NAPLAN results was college acting principal Vicki Angus who said the college community as a whole was proud of their efforts.
“NAPLAN reporting gives students, families and college staff a snapshot of where students sit in relation to the state, network and similar schools,” she said.
“Some of these results reflect intentional teaching strategies and programs the college has implemented to ensure our students are being provided the best opportunity to excel in their academic journey from Prep toSenior Secondary.
“Exceeding the state average at Year 3, 5 and 7 in many areas and in all areas at Year 9 is a cause for celebration.”
Ms Angus said Year 9 students who performed at the highest level in NAPLAN testing were acknowledged by the Minister of Education with ‘Excellence Awards’ intheir areas.
Acknowledgements included Charlton Lewin in reading and maths, Thomas Bath and Corey Evans in maths, and Olivia and Callani Winsall in reading.
