Strong start for Bloods

SEASON 2024 has gotten off to a positive start for Terang Mortlake, with the Bloods getting the win over Camperdown.

The Bloods travelled to Leura Oval to take on the Magpies under lights for round one of Hampden League action on Saturday.

Having suffered a preliminary final loss at the hands of North Warrnambool Eagles last season, the Bloods will be keen to go one further this year.

Under the direction of coach Lewis Taylor, the Bloods put on a strong performance at Leura Oval, defeating the Magpies 12.6.78 to 6.13.49.

Best for the Bloods were Joe Arundell, Ryley Hutchins, Matty Arundell, Dylan Jones, Max Lower and Jacob Moloney.

Hutchins booted three goals for the Bloods while Moloney and Ryan Tanner each contributed two.

Joe Arundell, Toby Harris, Darcy Hobbs, Max Lower and Ben Reid kicked one each apiece.

The Bloods’ reserves also enjoyed a round one victory, defeating Camperdown 10.4.64 to 7.10.52.

Tyler Vickers booted four home for the day, while Josh Brown, Jake Lee, Jack Lehmann, Henry Roberts and Ned Roberts kicked one each.

Best for the side were Matthew Baxter, Tyler Vickers, Ned Roberts, Tom Arundell, Xavier Reicha and Jordan Harris.

Netball

Results from last weekend:

Open – Terang Mortlake defeated Camperdown 53-44. Best players: Eboni Knights, Emma Lucas and Jacqui Arundell.

Division one – Terang Mortlake defeated Camperdown 52-29. Best: Maddison Chesshire, Jessica Davis and Ellen-Rose Lee.

Division two – Terang Mortlake lost to Camperdown 24-29. Best: Lucy Finnerty, Holly Fowler and Harriet Place.

Division three – Terang Mortlake lost to Camperdown 27-36. Best: Ava Nolan, Tess McKenzie and Zoe Ritchie.

17 and under – Terang Mortlake lost to Camperdown 34-58. Best: Lara Clarke, Millie Scanlon and Jessica Bell.

15 and under - Terang Mortlake defeated Camperdown 29-24. Best: Madelyn Clarke, Pippa Barr and Violet Dillon.

15 and under reserves – Terang Mortlake defeated Camperdown 33-6. Best: Mikala Madzarevic, Lucia Clarke and Lily Guthrie.

13 and under – Terang Mortlake lost to Camperdown 5-44. Best: Chloe Clifford, Bella Scanlon and Francesca Rickard.

13 and under reserves – Terang Mortlake lost to Camperdown 16-20. Best: Matilda Conheady, Imogen Barr and Daisy Dillon.

Round two this weekend will be a ‘Super Saturday’ for the Bloods who will play their first home game of the season against South Warrnambool at Ridley Recreation Reserve.

The reserves will feature as the main game, with the seniors playing after the under 18s.

The club will also welcome the 2004 premiership players as they celebrate their 20-year reunion.

Football

9am - under 10; 9.55am - under 12; 10.50am - under 14; 12.10pm - under 16; 1.55pm - under 18; 3.30pm - seniors, 5.30pm reserves.

Netball

9am – development; 10am - 15 and under/13 and under reserves; 11am - 17 and under/ 13 and under; 12 noon - division two/ 15 and under reserves; 1pm - division one/division three; 2.30pm - open.
