Planning ahead: Cobden Technical School year 10 students learnt all about the gas industry with a visit to Cooper’s Gas Plant in Port Campbell.

Careers co-ordinator Jason Beveridge said the cohort of students visited Cooper’s Gas Plant in Port Campbell earlier this month.

“Cooper’s provided buses to transport the students to the event and then a hearty breakfast for students on their arrival at the site,” he said.

“After short speeches from Cooper’s senior manager and the local mayor, students were given a safety induction then piled onto a mini bus for the tour of the site.”

Mr Beveridge said students learnt how the site operates, the risks involved in the operation and the precautions taken to minimise the risks, as well as the range of employment opportunities the site provides.

“Students left the site with a new appreciation of how a gas plant operates and of the employment opportunities in their local area,” he said.
