WAR veterans buried at the Cobden Cemetery will be honoured during a community service in the lead up to Anzac Day on Friday.

WAR veterans buried at the Cobden Cemetery will be honoured during a community service in the lead up to Anzac Day on Friday.
Sixty-two war veterans final resting places will be recognised during the initiative which saw Australian flags temporarily placed besides graves on Monday.
The project, which will culminate with a community ceremony at the cemetery, is a joint effort between the Cobden Technical School, Cobden Cemetery Trust and the Cobden Primary School.
Cobden Technical School building community co-ordinator Andrea Stoddart said this is the second year the school has led the initiative.
She said on Monday students helped place the Australian flags next to the gravesides with the assistance of members of the Cobden Cemetery Trust.
Ms Stoddart encouraged residents to join the service on Friday, April 8 starting at 11.30am sharp.
“The entire Cobden Primary School and Cobden Technical School student body will be coming and the community is invited to attend,” she said.
“A service will be held and it goes for half an hour. We have Nathan Murphy (from Cobden Primary School) emceeing this year.
“Max Thompson from the primary school will be reading a poem and Austin de Bie will be doing the ode.
“We will have school leaders laying wreathes. All of the students will place poppies.”
Ms Stoddard said those involved are looking forward to the ceremony.
