Students let loose ahead of exam
MORTLAKE College Year 12 students let loose prior to starting exams.
MORTLAKE College Year 12 students let loose prior to starting exams.
The student cohort celebrated with a special muck-up day in which staff dressed as Minions from the popular film Despicable Me and students arrived in inflatable animal costumes.
Students and staff enjoyed a barbecue breakfast before heading off to Warrnambool for 10-pin bowling, an escape room adventure and lunch.
Mortlake College VCAL co-ordinator Nathan Jones said the Minions theme was conceptualised by the students, who individually alerted each staff member in secrecy to create a surprise on the day.
“We wanted to have an informal celebration for the Year 12s, an occasion for staff and students to mingle and send them off with best wishes ahead of final exams,” he said.
“We’ll have a more formal send off for the students next month, but we just wanted a low key celebration for the students.”
Principal Sean Fitzpatrick congratulated the students on nearing the end of their secondary education.
“They’re a great bunch of kids,” he said.
“It’s been a tough year again but these guys have demonstrated the focus and resilience we’ve come to expect from them.
“It’s great to celebrate with them.”
