TAP’s On will be hosting interactive, peer-led demonstrations for students across the region which highlights the wide range of accomplishments made as part of the program.

TAP coordinator Andrea Vallance said the occasion would provide an opportunity to showcase what students had learned through a series of workshops.

“On Thursday, November 7, TAP’s On! will showcase how Timboon P-12 staff and students are integrating agriculture and community into the curriculum to support learning outcomes across our campus,” she said.

"We look forward to TAP’s On! every year as a celebration and sharing of what we have discovered through the TAP with students and mentors leading activities for their peers, parents, community members and guests with hands-on workshops and opportunities.

“Over 450 students from Timboon P-12 School, Simpson and Nullawarre Primary Schools will be rotating through peer-led activities based on the work undertaken in the classroom.

“Our ‘STEP UP’ volunteer expo will be a highlight featuring State Emergency Services, Ambulance Victoria, Country Fire Authority and members of the Port Campbell Life Saving Club with interactive, hands-on workshops promoting volunteerism in our region.”

Experts or mentors are invited to assist the presenting students from Years five to 10 in their peer-led workshops for the expo.

“Students will demonstrate what they have learned or will learn in the classroom, covering such diverse topics such as our robotic gardener - FarmBot, CSI Timboon, saucy soil secrets, Picasso cows, nature-based art, water bugs, tourism maths, Fishcare 101, tractor physics, farmers’ hats and more,” Mrs Vallance said.

“Visitors are invited to stay for our TAP’s On! multi-agency incident /scenario with SES, Ambulance Victoria and CFA volunteers at lunchtime between 1pm-2pm.

“Students, ex-students, parents, members of the public, local businesses, industry representatives and educators are invited to join Timboon P-12 staff, students and industry contributors to observe and celebrate some of the remarkable initiatives the TAP has enabled.

“Since the TAP began in mid-2012, we have had over 720 industry personnel and community members provide either direct curriculum content to students or provide personal development for teachers

“We wish to acknowledge the support of the Gall, Uebergang, Jones, Brodie and Vedmore Foundations for their backing of the TAP in 2023/2024.”
