Summer rains end 2023

CORANGAMITE Shire's northern towns experienced s damp 2023, with December recording high rainfall figures across Lismore, Derrinallum and Camperdown.

Camperdown experienced 706.6mm of rainfall in 2023, with the highest level of rainfall recorded in May at 91.5mm.

The next three wettest months were April (87.6mm), February (86mm), and June (73.5mm).

December 27 was the wettest day of 2023, with 40mm hitting the ground.

January recorded the lowest level of rainfall for Camperdown, with 15.5mm falling during the month.

Meanwhile, Derrinallum experienced 610.2mm of rainfall in 2023.

The wettest month for Derrinallum was December, where 121.6mm hit the ground, and was followed by the months of June (91.2mm), October (60.6mm), April (56mm).

The highest daily rainfall for the year was 42.6mm, which fell on December 26.

Like Camperdown, January was the driest month for Derrinallum with only 10.4mm of rainfall recorded.

Lismore experienced the lowest amount of rainfall for 2023 for the three towns, recording 592.8mm in 2023.

The wettest month was December 129mm falling, with high rainfall also recorded in the months of June (80.2mm), April (53.4mm), and October (51.8mm).

December 25 was Lismore’s wettest day, with 31.8mm of rainfall recorded.

The driest month for Lismore in 2023 was January, where 8mm of rainfall hit the ground.
