STYLISH fashion and sunny conditions graced the Terang racecourse last Sunday for this year’s Terang Cup meet.

Terang and District Racing Club president Wayne Johnstone said more than 1200 people came out to enjoy the racing on show and the various styles on display.

“Fashions on the Field was a big success,” he said.

Horsham’s Belinda Nurse took out the women’s Fashions on the Field contest, while Debbie Winter from Ballarat East was the runner-up.

In the men’s competition, Ben Carbonaro from Coburg North was victorious, while Stephen Perryman from Mount Eliza took out second place.

Mr Johnstone said another highlight was the Mix and Mingle Marquee.

“That was really well patronised,” he said.

Mr Johnstone said the day’s racing was “really competitive”.

Former Warrnambool trainer Mitchell Freedman’s horse Pelonomena took out the 2019 Sungold Milk Terang Cup.

Swift placing changes in the final seconds of the race saw jockey Jye McNeil charge to the finish line to win by a nose.
