SWC to start this weekend
ROUND one of the 2024\25 South West Cricket season will kick off this weekend.
With eight teams entered in the senior division one competition – Bookaar, Boorcan, Camperdown, Cobden, Ecklin, Pomborneit, Heytesbury and Woorndoo – the season looks set to be a competitive one.
Round one on Saturday will reveal which clubs have recruited well in the off-season, with several anticipated to have introduced international players.
The start of the 2024/25 season will see a rematch of last year’s grand final between the Cobden Knights and Pomborneit.
The Knights will be riding on a high from their premiership win while Pomborneit will be keen for redemption.
Playing a one day format, Saturday will also see Woorndoo host the Camperdown Lakers, Heytesbury Storm will travel to Bookaar to take on the Pelicans and Ecklin will host Boorcan.
Round one for division two will see Cobden host Boorcan, Ecklin host Pomborneit and the Storm will be at home against Bookaar.
With seven clubs entered in the division three competition, the Cobden Knights will have the bye in the opening round.
The Storm Blue side will host Ecklin, Camperdown Lakers will be home to the Storm’s Purple side while Timboon will travel to Woorndoo.
In the South West Cricket under 16 competition, four clubs have entered.
Storm will host ACM Pomborneit and Bookaar will host the Knights, with both games to be played on Sunday October 27.
In the under 13 competition, eight clubs have entered, with the first round to be played on Monday, October 28.
On that day, Ecklin will host Simpson, Boorcan will host the Lakers and Storm will be at home against Bookaar.
