Swim club under threat of closure

THE Terang Amateur Swimming Club is facing going into recess due to lack of volunteers.

By wd-news

The club has been a local icon for many years, building the skills, confidence and water safety of children for more than 30 years.

But this could all come to an end in season 2024/25 if more volunteers don’t come on board and join the committee.

This well-supported swim club offers bi-weekly stroke correction and learn-to-swim classes with qualified coaches, fantastic venues and an opportunity for competition.

The February Swim Carnival allows members an opportunity to compete against swimmers from the Greater South West region and showcases the lessons learnt at Terang.

This year the club was hoping to expand its offering to a fortnightly training session at the Mortlake pool, allowing more families to become involved – but this can only happen with more support from parents.

The club will hold its annual general meeting next Wednesday, October 30 from 7.15pm at the Terang stadium.

For more information or to express an interest in joining the committee phone Lisa Chesshire on 0438 922 275.
