Table tennis ladder tightens

SOME close matches has resulted in the ladder tightening up for the Terang Table Tennis competition.


This week’s results, while being very close, has evened up the ladder, with teams in third through to fifth place all on the same points while the top two sides will play each other in the next round.

Battlers worked hard for a 6-5 win against I Don’t Care.

The crucial match, which resulted in the win for Battlers, saw Mark Smith and Kim Anderson win an evenly matched doubles against Vesha Chapagai and Shai Karney.

The result was 14-16, 11-9, 9-11, 16-14 and 11-9.

Another event contest saw Kim defeat Shai 12-10, 11-9, 10-12 and 13-11.

Mark Smith won all his singles, with Peter Maina and Kim Anderson winning a singles each for the victors.

Michael Pearson and Vesha Chapagai won two singles and the doubles for I Don’t Care.

TIC had to work hard as a team to defeat Ghanda 6-5.

Colin Venn, Tyler Smith and Ian Rochfort all won two singles for TIC.

For Ghanda, Callum McSween proved too strong in all his matches, winning his three singles and both doubles.

Ladder – TIC 24, Rhino’s 24, I Don’t Care 12, Ghanda 12, Battlers 12.
