A YOUNG driver was lucky to be alive after rolling his vehicle last week.

Shortly after 8.30am last Thursday, a male driver rolled his Subaru in Bostocks Creek and managed to extract himself from the vehicle.

Cobden Police Senior Constable Rachel Wass said the driver was believed to have lost control after hitting water and aquaplaning.

“The driver was travelling towards Cobden on the Camperdown-Cobden Road at Bostocks Creek,” she said.

“The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries by ambulance."

“He is very, very lucky to be alive.”

Snr Const Wass encouraged all drivers to take care on the road.

“It’s a stark reminder for all drivers – particularly young drivers – to drive to conditions,” she said.

The vehicle was a write off.

Emergency services including Ambulance Victoria, Police and CFA attended the scene.
