Twenty-one staff members and the two secondary campus school captains faced the Ice Bucket Challenge last Friday to mark the end of term two.

The challenge was part of the school’s annual Blue Day, which raises funds for Fight MND to assist in research into motor neuron disease (MND).

Classroom Teacher Rohan Adams said Blue Day aimed to raise awareness as well as funds for the disease.

“We had a colouring competition in the lead-up just to get kids involved early on, and we had our ice bucket challenge, and we had some competitions during lunchtime, in which the kids can win MND swag for,” he said.

“That was highly motivating for them. They really enjoyed the opportunity to pour cold water over all of their teachers.

“The school is always supportive of this cause, and the kids really get behind it.

“The Junior School Council in particular has been wonderful in organising all the fun activities in the lead up.”

Students chanted as their teachers took part in the challenge, many of whom were dressed up for the occasion in blue tutus or even Cookie Monster costumes.

Mr Adams extended his gratitude to the teachers who volunteered to participate in the challenge.

“It’s really been a great day,” he said.

“It’s always a highlight of the year, and a great way to end term two.

“We’ve been able to raise about $700 – it goes to a fantastic cause.”
