CAMPERDOWN teens Taj Cunningham and Riley Murfitt are hoping to bring home a hockey premiership in tonight’s grand final of the Premier League B squad in Melbourne.
The pair, who will run out with team-mates from the Westvic Under 16s representative squad, are hoping to take out the division when they face Mentone at the Essendon Hockey Centre.
The team won its way through to the grand final after defeating Craigieburn 3-2 last Friday night.
Proud mum Judith Murfitt said the boys were both excited to be playing for premiership honours.
“Taj is the captain of the team this year and for Riley, this is his first season with Westvic,” Judith said.
“They’ve had a great year; they train each Monday night with the squad in Ballarat and play on Friday nights. It’s quite a commitment, but they both love the game.
“They’ve been playing hockey for a few years now, having started when they were little with the Corangamite juniors before heading to Warrnambool and now with Westvic in Ballarat.”
