There were 35 members at the meeting, including the induction of new member Lorraine Bland by president Anne Gready.

The five-minute speaker was Tony Heffernan ,who spoke about his life growing up on a dairy farm on Dalvui Lane, Terang.

He had been involved as a judge at racing meetings around the state, the highlight of which was judging at several Melbourne Cups.

The guest speaker was Janine Fitzpatrick, who was known mostly as “Tim’s wife” as Tim Fitzpatrick has been a resident doctor in the town for 34 years.

Janine taught French at Terang and District High School, and told of her story from Port to Paris.

It was a story of growing up in Port Melbourne including spending time at Melbourne Girls Grammar School, to which she had won a boarding scholarship.

While studying an arts degree in Melbourne she resided at Queens College.

She highlighted the enormous experience it was at both these educational institutions.

Tim and Janine have travelled extensively, and she concluded her story with ending one of her travel trips in Paris.

Janine had to overcome childhood injury, and eventually became a junior athletics champion.

Her father, Allan Miller, coached South Melbourne in 1967 and 1968.

A meeting was held with district probus clubs to exchange ideas, and as a result there will be a Christmas in July at the Cobden Golf Club on July 24, with other members from probus clubs joining.

At the most recent meeting of the Terang and District Probus Club, there was also a crazy hat day as an initiative of the club.

The funniest hat was a Jester’s hat worn by Dorothy Whiting.
